FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: We are alive and well! ....in The Hammer.
If you're still reading, what a trooper! My long silence has stemmed from lack of time, then not really knowing how to sum up the last few crazy months.
Living up north on Manitoulin had its merits when we decided to go there. Chief among them were being close to family, and experiencing life in a wildly beautiful, remote place while we had the freedom to do so. But two long winters, a recession and a second baby later, the bloom wore off the rose of island living.
We wanted to be back closer to the diversity and services of a bigger place, still close to family for our boys, somewhere with job options (uh, yeah), great outdoor opportunities, ideally in a neighbourhood with interesting character, yet in a place we can hope to afford a house again. The more we thought about it, the more that, to our great shock, Hamilton made sense. And we jumped at the chance to make a change when the opportunity arose suddenly. Very. Suddenly.
So here we are in the Golden Horseshoe, an area we never envisioned living in together (we both spent our formative years along this corner of Lake Ontario). We've rented an apartment in the centre of an artsy, family-oriented neighbourhood. The boxes are unpacked (yet again), the house up north is on the market, the boys are loving this new lifestyle (kids! playgrounds! cousins!), and we're slowly starting to regain our bearings.
Anyone feel like popping by for a coffee? ;)
(These shots were taken by our friend Ann... that's her hub Josh reading with the boys. They spent the night en route during their own latest big move, from Québec City to Michigan).

Just getting back to my blog, too. Oops. Great to see these pics here, and I'm so glad I got to see you and meet Rob and the boys before we moved west. I hope things are still going well. Keep those photos coming! Love Sharilynn
Kara, just left a comment on your previous post. As always, my sentiments are the same... just love your writing. It was so great to spend time with the four of you & Halloween was so fun. Will send photos soon. Was so pleased to see last year's Christmas photo of the boys in their red sleeps. Seasonal stuff is always extra special to look back on. Good Mama, keeping up beloved traditions. You are a great Mom... #1 Mom & #1 Dad... blessed boys & blessed parents! hugs, your proud Mom xoxoxox
